OUR HISTORY

Origins of The Vine of Ulysses

The wine epic of La Vigne d'Ulysse dates back to 1960, when the Buoro family, seduced by the exceptional terroir of Malvies, decided to acquire the Carbonnel wine estate. Between Carcassonne, Limoux and Castelnaudary, nestled in the heart of the Occitanie region in France, the Carbonnel estate becomes the cradle of this family's wine adventure. This first step marks the beginning of a story steeped in love for the land and an unwavering commitment to quality, a tradition that has endured for generations. Serge took over the family estate in 1989. His taste for entrepreneurship, sharing and passing on allows him today to ensure large volumes while preserving impeccable qualities and to have competitive and appropriate prices.

Evolution of the cellar over the years

Indeed, over the decades, La Vigne d'Ulysse has been transformed, not only by the mechanization of the vineyard, the installation of automation, a tangential filter, a stainless steel vat room... but also through the adoption of competitive farming practices. The company has been able to develop a trading structure which eliminates any quantity limitation, thus guaranteeing the constant availability of quality wines. This structural independence allows La Vigne d'Ulysse to remain faithful to its principles, without compromise, which today makes it possible to ensure large volumes while preserving impeccable qualities and to have competitive and appropriate prices.

Serge is surrounded by a close-knit team on whom he can count to take care of the fifteen or so grape varieties produced, the equipment is entirely mechanized to ensure the best productivity.

Thus, the story of La Vigne d'Ulysse is a story woven of deep values, strong commitments, and a competitiveness that corresponds to market expectations. These values are not only engraved in the company's DNA, but are found in every aspect of its evolution.

Values & Commitments

It is here, in the heart of this exceptional terroir in Occitanie in the SOUTH of France, that the fundamental values of La Vigne d'Ulysse take root. Established in a production area combining quality and quantity, the company forges its identity around an exceptional quality/price ratio. Responsiveness becomes second nature, whether in the creation of new ranges, the development of innovative packaging or the rapid response to specific requests. It is this agility which distinguishes La Vigne d’Ulysse and which is found in each Bag in Box. The vineyard is classified HVE - “High Environmental Value”.

Always enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and pursuing developments, he is currently engaged with his team in planting new grape varieties such as Artaban, Floréal, Vidoc and Souvigner Gris. These grape varieties are specifically designed to resist diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew. This initiative is part of an environmental approach aimed at reducing phytosanitary treatments.
